My cat Charlotte was also abandoned by her family. In brief, they moved and left her outside. Their neighbors had a cell phone number for the family and kept calling them, leaving messages about the cat they left behind, but they never responded. Clearly, they didn't want her anymore. Meanwhile, the poor cat was also pregnant. The neighbors took her to the SPCA, and her kittens were adopted first, then I adopted her and promptly got her spayed.
